Dear Surrey Friends,

We would like to invite to invite you to attend a special transportation event, please feel free to circulate to your networks:

Are you frustrated with the politics around our region’s transportation network? Are the mixed messages on transit and upcoming referendum <http://i.sfu.ca/gCwmEg>  leading you astray? Transportation is important, it has an oversized impact on the region’s economy, energy use, emissions, and livability. While our region is widely known as being one of the best places in the world to live and has a leading public transit system, Metro Vancouver is projected to have a million new people, 600,000 more jobs, and 700,000 more vehicles on the road by 2041. Moreover, the costs of congestion in our region have been pegged as high as $1.5 billion per year.

The decisions that govern, plan, and pay for our transit, roads, cycling, and walking networks are incredibly complex and require good public engagement. However, citizens and stakeholders are being inundated with contradictory information around the current state and future direction of our transportation system.

Join us at two public dialogues that will launch Moving in a Livable Region <http://i.sfu.ca/mvQxGS> , a new initiative of the SFU Centre for Dialogue <http://www.sfu.ca/dialogue>  that seeks to engage and educate Metro Vancouver citizens and stakeholders on transportation issues. Our panelists will discuss transportation, the economy, and what is needed to ensure high livability in the region.
