Bolivar Park Access Change Info Session 2012-11-20

Metro Vancouver is building a new large diameter sanitary sewer main, called the North Surrey Interceptor (NSI) - Port Mann Section Twinning, starting in summer 2013. The project is required to accomodate the projected population growth in the Surrey, Pitt Meadows, and Maple Ridge areas, and provide enhanced environmental protection.
 
This project will also require relocation of the public access to Bolivar Park. You are encouraged to provide input for which of the two identified options you prefer for public access to Bolivar Park.
 
You are invited to this public meeting to learn more about the project. The information provided will include:

    Project background information
    Sewer route alignment
    An overview of two options for public access to Bolivar Park

Metro Vancouver and City of Surrey staff will be available to answer questions and receive your feedback.

This meeting was a gong-show - very dissapointing in how well the information was communicated to residents as well as amongst the KEY players: City of Surrey, Metro Vancouver & SFPR.

A big part of our AGM will be to discuss how residents want Metro Vancouver to rethink the options for the sewer main relocation.

PLEASE PLEASE tell all your neighbours & friends in bolivar heights to come to our AGM on Dec 4th at the Whalley RCMP District One Office.... see the calendar for more details!

I just can't get my head around the huge amount of damage that they want to inflict on the park and neighbourhood, instead of putting this monster of a pipe through the 116th street option - which they didn't really want to discuss at all!!
Wish they had the guts to put up the information BEFORE the meeting - it was very difficult to understand the different plants as they "tried" to flip back and forth to the slide rather than allowing us to look at the plans before hand and be better informed.

It is so very very important that we discuss this with all the residence of this neighbour hood and let our voice be heard.  We need to get organized to let them know how we feel about this project as the impact is going to be huge

As well the maps were so poorly drawn that it was impossible to see the full detail & extent of their design. I have no idea on how they plan to put a road south of 115th to bring in traffic to the park - i cant imagine that entrance without massive cutbacks into the park. As well - they glossed over the 114th plan which they said was a benefit to residents - the idea that now residents & non-residents would be racing down 133 and 114th to access the park and not impact residents is impossible to understand.

I want to see more about 116th - or any option that impacts the less used industrial land that is being carved up for the SFPR - they should have planned this together as they already have the machinery to dig up the road and install such massive infrastructure.

Another concern - the picture with the "cute dogs walking" really didnt give you a good sense on how steep the burm will be and with a 4 foot lead from the street - plus the burm - how many feet of park land are we loosing AGAIN!

Presenting us with two poorly drawn plans whilst there are others to consider is not giving us a choice.

I can tell before I hear a traffic report when there is a problem on or in the area of the bridge as there are so many vehicles tearing down 133A Street in the early morning hours. If the road was made to go thru the park, some cars would race thru the new area while others were attempring to turn west. What a potential mess. The number of cars speeding along on 115 at 7:50 this morning floored me. Scarey times.
