« Last post by Mark on June 07, 2016, 09:13:13 PM »
As a City of Surrey resident you can purchase a Rain Barrel at a subsidized rate on Sunday June 19. Barrels are $55, which is quite a saving over other outfits, for example Canadian Tire often charges over $ 100 for one of these. Flyer is attached below.
Barrels need to be pre-ordered before June 10, and can be picked up on June 19 at Willowbrook Mall, on the Surrey-Langley Border. Information regarding pre-ordering from the City of Surrey is included below.

Community Events / Public hearing - May 16, 2016 7 p.m. city hall
« Last post by RuthS on May 07, 2016, 05:02:01 PM »
Hi Guys - the public hearing re property on 112th across from school (Galbraith House) is being held.  Developer wants to erect five additional houses here and reduce setback from street.   Neighbours are opposed to this plan.   Thought anyone wanting to give them our support might want to attend this hearing.  Some of these folks came out for our downsizing hearing.   Power in numbers, as we all know.

David Sadler spoke briefly at our last BHCA Meeting on November 17, and sends this following invitation (via Karen McGregor) to our membership to attend a meeting on the "North Surrey Action Project" on December 15 from 5:30-6:30 pm, at the Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre, 13458 107 Ave.

Subject: North Surrey Action Project

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to send an before too much time had passed.  This is an email to the people who were interested in staying involved in the North Surrey Neighbourhood Action Project.   It was great to meet you all at Chuck Bailey on November 17th at the open house and gathering.  Those I’ve been able to talk to seem to think that, for now, Tuesdays might be a good night to get together a couple times a month, to help plan out and build this project. Just wanted to share some more information about the project so I attached a flyer.

We want to invite people out to a follow up on December 15th, at 5:30-6:30, at Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre.  We would just go over what we heard in terms of ideas, explain the project a bit more, talk about some of the first steps, and most importantly - get to know each other.

Please share the flyer with people you know!  I hope that we can find a team of 15 or so individuals who are interested in getting involved in the core group.

Let me know if you have any questions or ideas!

Ann Cassidy will be compiling the real minutes, but to give you a brief synopsis
As it turned out, it was a lively evening with approaching 50 in attendance.

The topics of discussion included a 10 min. presentation by Heather Paradis of Dist. 2 RCMP Office about Block Watch, a brief presentation from CoS (David Sadler) about neighbourhood capacity building, a brief chat about the importance of bylaw reporting, and -the main topic of the day- which was the progress made regarding the downzoning proposals of "Bolivar Park" and the 113 Ave Extension Area (thanks to Ruth Spencer), with Wolfgang, Joe and Monica (Vanderzalm- Wolfgang's daughter) presenting on the downzoning proposal.. Bruce Ralston arrived about midway through the meeting, and gave a brief introduction, discussing some things he has been working on.

There were, of course, some interesting questions from the gallery, and Grant Rice provided some pertinent suggestions on how to make sure our proposals meet the necessary requirements. I've attached the Agenda Lyn provided, and also the package of information I received from CoS regarding the Bolivar Park "Extension Area" which includes my house on 113 Ave.
