Title: DSBIA Hosts All Candidates Meeting - Questions Answers - Free
Post by: Webmaster on November 03, 2011, 03:53:08 PM
On Tuesday, November 8 from 6:30-8:30 pm, the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association (DSBIA) will be hosting an All Candidates Meeting at Compass Point Inn (9850 King George Blvd.)  for candidates running for Mayor and Council in the upcoming municipal election.

All the candidates have been provided a list of questions. They have answered the questions and their answers can be found on our website www.downtownsurreybia.com

The format will be as follows:

Candidates will be given time to introduce themselves.

Candidates will be asked questions formulated by the DSBIA based on the questions asked or comments that have been made by the candidates in the press or through social media. The questions will be different for each candidate.

Candidates will chose a question(s) from the public.

The public is invited to submit questions - each candidate will pick questions from the jar (number of questions from the jar per candidate will depend on time). Questions should be directed to the candidates as a whole - do not write questions directed to an individual candidate as there is no guarantee which question the candidate will pick from the jar.

Join us on November 8 and meet the people interested in leading the City for the next three years.

Flyer attached. Please pass this on to your neighbours, family and friends.

went out to the meeting. it was interesting to see the real faces (ie live and not just in print) of the current/future leaders. the room basically had standing room only when we showed up about 10mins in.

not all the candidates showed up - but those that did presented some interesting views to the challenges our city faces.

of course the running joke was the bus from 108 to 104 on King George Hwy.

Sadly this question seemed to have been poorly phrased because, I believe, the intent is great - there really isnt a local KG city center bus - like Downtown has Main Street & Robson, Bby has Metrotown #19 etc.

Better yet - wow - wouldnt it be great to have a free bus running around the downtown core so you could avoid parking in the center - but still do your shopping, your hair, your banking, your recreation etc without having to repark or worry about those darn 2hr limites at the mall!
