Hello,
This is a friendly REMINDER of the next Bolivar Heights Community Association Meeting (BHCA) and AGM, occuring on Thursday Feb. 27, 7 pm at the Freemason's Hall (14042 Grosvenor Road). The "Open Meeting" will run from about 7 to 9 pm including Guest Speakers, and then we will hold a brief AGM.

This time we will be having Mike Ferguson from "Surrey Emergency Preparedness" speaking about ways to prepare for a potential neighbourhood emergency, both as a household and as a neighbourhood, whether it be a natural disaster or otherwise. Mike will share general information for plans that the City of Surrey and other Emergency Providers (Surrey RCMP, Surrey Fire, BC Ambulance, CN Police, etc.) have in place should there be an emergency here or elsewhere in the region. He will also discuss how the City of Surrey provides free training for residents to learn about "Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness" with the goal of utilizing emergency resources wisely in such a situation.

Local MLA Bruce Ralston is also planning to join us in the second half of the meeting, and will speak on current initiatives in our community and beyond.

We will also have general information about local Block Watches in our area, and be able to provide contact information for the BW Program Coordinators at Surrey District #1 (Whalley) and District #2 (Guildford/Fleetwood), as the Bolivar Heights neighbourhood straddles both districts. There will likely be a police officer in attendance as well!

There will also be a brief discussion of how and why BHCA was formed, and how we can evolve as an association.

A poster is attached, please print off a few copies and share among your neighbours. Bring a friend, bring a neighbour, and please encourage anyone new or even "seasoned" to our area, to join us! Also, bring your ideas, questions and concerns..

With more involvement from all, we can improve our neighbourhood for all! There will undoubtedly be new development in our area, including infill of larger properties, and more major dense projects on Grosvenor Road in the coming years -including a new community park- in the more distant future, so there will be changes! Therefore, as an association of concerned neighbours, it is essential that we collectively affect positive change!

Looking forward to a good turnout for our Guest Speakers on this Thursday February 27!

OLDER MESSAGE

The next meeting of the Bolivar Heights Community Association will occur Thursday Feb. 27 at 7 pm at the Freemason's Hall at 14042 Grosvenor Road.

There are several major developments planned near to BH at present, and at least one major apartment project planned within BH's borders, so it is important that we keep our organization together, and prepare for future development.. with the intent of improving our neighbourhood.

Hope everyone is keeping well, and look forward to seeing everyone Feb. 27! Please bring a friend and a neighbour, and please consider running for a position with the Executive, as we could certainly do with some more folks involved. Also, bring information about any concerns in your area. And most importantly, bring your ideas on how to keep and make Bolivar Height's a great neighbourhood to live!

Mark Styles
BHCA President

We’d like to know if you will be attending. We’re having a special speaker that we heard at the BC Council of Garden Clubs Annual Meeting in March. She was so informative and humorous that we knew you would enjoy hearing her speak.
We would like to know if you will be attending. As I will be away for the next while, would you please let Trudy know if you will make it ot the celebration? We want to know how many to prepare for the Celebration.
Trudy’s email is t_denton@shaw.ca
Thanks,
